Egyptian president supports Russia action to settle Syrian crisis - Kremlin

MOSCOW, November 18./TASS/. In a telephone conversation on Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin informed his Egyptian counterpart Abdul Fattah al-Sisi about Russia’s stepping up a combat operation against extremists in Syria, and also discussed the probe into the crash of a Russian A321 airliner in Sinai, the Kremlin press service said. "Within the context of effort to find criminals involved in the terrorist act on board the Russian airliner, they agreed on close cooperation between security services of Russia and Egypt," the press service said. "It is intended to take additional measures to ensure maximum safety of air communication between the two countries to see it restored as soon as possible," it added. "The two countries’ leaders stressed priority importance of combining the efforts of the whole international community in fight against the terrorist threat," it said. "Putin informed the interlocutor about stepping up of a combat operation against extremist groups in Syria, where long-range aviation and naval task force have joined. The Egyptian president spoke in support of Russian action aimed at the settlement of the Syrian crisis," the press service said. Besides, the two leaders discussed topical issues of Russian-Egyptian strategic relations, putting an accent on two countries’ bid to boost cooperation in the sphere of nuclear power engineering, it reported.
