Eight more Thais return home safely from Yemen

BANGKOK, April 8 (TNA) - The second batch of eight Thai nationals, all are students, has safely arrived home from Yemen, bringing the number of Thai citizens having returned home from the conflict-ridden Arab country to 10. Thai Foreign Ministry Spokesman Sek Wannamethee, who is also Director-General of the ministry’s Department of Information, told journalists that the Thai students arrived at Thailand's main Suvarnabhumi Internaitonal Airport on Tuesday evening via Oman Air, Flight WY815. The spokesman stated that the Thai students were welcomed by Vosita Vorasaph, Deputy Director-General of the ministry’s Department of Consular Affairs and officials from the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security. The spokesman said that the first group of two Thai nationals in violence-plagued Yemen, who are also students, safely returned to Thailand last Sunday. According to the spokesman, a total of 108 Thai students have, so far, expressed their desire to leave Yemen to the Thai Embassy in Muscat, Oman's capital, which oversees Thailand's affairs in the crisis-stricken Arab country, and 10 of them have already been evacuated and safely returned home.
