Election Monitoring Agency To Summon Ternate Electric Company

Ternate, N Maluku, April 10 (Antara) - North Maluku Elections Monitoring Agency (Bawaslu) will summon Ternate`s State power firm PT PLN regarding the power outages in various parts of North Maluku during the election result tally on Wednesday at polling stations. "We would like to ask Ternate`s Electricity Firm management because there is a possibility that the power outages was caused by certain political interests," stated Ternate`s Election Monitoring Agency`s Chairman Sultan Alwan, here on Thursday. The power outages might have been caused from technical problems but it was also likely to be done deliberately by any party`s cheat effort in tampering the legislative election results. Sultan pointed out that the agency received many reports from the polling stations in cities that were affected by the power outage, because they had to delay the counting process. The legislative election result counting in several areas in North Maluku were being done until late at night, because voting was supposed to end at 1 p.m. GMT+9 but was postponed until 3 p.m. GMT+9, because many people were voting. Hard rain and strong winds during the voting day could also have been one of the causes that it was postponed at a number of polling stations. Due to the rain, many of the polling stations were forced to move to the nearest residences houses or government offices. Sultan added that the agency will continue to gather a variety of the 2014 legislative election violations, both of which, were found by the agency and its subordinates; public reports will also be processed according to the applicable regulations.
