Electronic banking service for farmers

BANGKOK, Jan 7 (TNA) - The Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) introduced a mobile application for farmers on mountains in Chiang Rai to use the bank’s A-Mobile application for electronic financial transaction in coffee bean trade. BAAC’s president Apirom Sukprasert said the innovative financial services through smartphones are ideal for the villagers, especially Doi Chang coffee growers because about 400 million baht is circulated in coffee bean trade yearly. The coffee growers can settle payment through A-Mobile application instead of travelling to the city and withdraw cash from banks, thus saving travelling time. The BAAC expects that this year, some 500,000 villagers there will use its application, which also provides prices of agricultural products. (TNA)
