Elephant attacked two cars at Thailand's Khao Yai National Park

BANGKOK, January 11 (TNA) - Thai officials say a wild elephant has attacked two cars carrying tourists on visit to Khao Yai National Park, although no injuries were reported. The incidents occurred Saturday at the kilometer marker 30 on the road to Prachin Buri province and near the office of the national park. Traffic near the scene of the incidents which was about seven kilometres from Heaw Narok Waterfall came virtually to a standstill as drivers were afraid of being attacked by other wild elephants which were eating nearby. Park officials had to spend more than one hour in chasing them into the forest. Officials said they believed the elephant which attacked the two cars was probably the same jumbo which had attacked several other cars in the past. Two similar incidents have occurred to tourists since the beginning of January. Park officials have warned drivers not to flash their high beams or honk their horns at the jumbo when they encounter an elephant on the road leading to the national park because they could simply make the elephant became more aggressive.
