Elephant born in captivity in Ayutthaya

AYUTTHAYA, Oct 13 (TNA) – A 30-year-old elephant named Phang Buanoi gave birth to a female baby at the Elephant Kraal in the early morning. Itthiphan Khaolamai, manager of the elephant center, said the birth happened at 2.49am. The baby elephant weighed about 80 kilograms. Both the baby and its mother were healthy after 20 months of pregnancy. The baby elephant resulted from natural mating between Phang Buanoi and Phlai Boonjan aged 35. It is the 74th elephant of the center and the 4th baby of Phang Buanoi. The management of the Elephant Kraal Pavilion has yet to name the baby elephant. (TNA)
