Emirates Red Crescent provides assistance to displaced people in Erbil

Abu Dhabi, 21 January 2015 (WAM): Relief teams from the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, have distributed winter aid packages to displaced Iraqi families who have taken temporary refuge in under-construction building sites and other shelters in Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan. The ERC team, under the supervision of the UAE Consulate in Erbil, visited families that fled the violence to provide them with winter aid necessities including stoves, cooking gas cylinders, and food packages. Iraq's Kurdistan is currently harbouring more than 1.6 million displaced Iraqis who have fled the fighting and armed attacks, in addition to more than 250,000 Syrian refugees.
