Emirates Red Crescent renovates student dorms in Yemen's Shabwa Governorate

ADEN, 19th January 2016 (WAM) --- The Emirates Red Crescent is renovating dormitories for students in Shabwa Governorate, south of Yemen, as part of an initiative of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Honorary President of the Emirates Red Crescent. Launched yesterday in a ceremony attended by Governor Abdullah Al Nisi and other officials, the project will serve some 190 students of boarding schools in Shabwa. Praising Sheikha Fatima's initiatives, Al Nisi said the effort improves students' academic performance and helps restore normalcy to the governorate. Sheikha Fatima is also Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme President of the Family Development Foundation, and Head of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood. In addition to restored dorms and basic services, students will enjoy brand new furniture, water tanks, a fully-equipped computer lab and amenities. In a press statement, the humanitarian agency said seven out of 15 projects ordered by Sheikha Fatima have been completed in Yemen.
