Energy minister meets Oxford Business delegation

Manama, Apr.29 (BNA): Energy Minister Dr. Abdulhussain bin Ali Mirza received a delegation of journalists from the Oxford Business Group, headed by ClémentineClabault, and accompanied by National Oil and Gas Authority Strategies and Planning General Manager Ali Jabber Al Sawad. The delegation is in Bahrain to prepare the energy sector’s annual report for 2017. The minister welcomed the team and said he was confident the report would highlight the energy sector’s development and its contribution towards the growing economy of Bahrain. The minister said oil was first discovered in Bahrain in 1932 and the programmes carried out by the government since then have ensured not only increasing production but also maintaining those rates. He pointed out that the development of the Bahrain Field and its development had also been a major achievement of the government. Dr. Mirza said that the projects also included the modernization project of the Bahrain Refinery, the LNG project, the new oil pipeline between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, the expansion of the Bahrain National Gas Company as well as the achievements for the provision of gas and oil to meet current and future needs and to raise revenue to contribute to the growth of the national economy. The minister said that action has been taken to save energy and use of modern means that contribute to the preservation of natural resources (water, electricity, oil and gas) and programmes in solar energy have been implemented. Steps have also been taken, he said, to increase use and benefit as much as possible the energy sector and to work to achieve the economic vision 2030 for Bahrain. The visiting delegation thanked the minister for the warm reception and the hospitality and his cooperation to provide detailed answers to questions submitted by them.
