Energy ministry urges people to help save energy

BANGKOK, April 6 (TNA) - As summer season is now hitting Thailand, the Energy Ministry has urged people to watch expenses they spent on energy during the season. Deputy permanent secretary for Energy Tawarat Sutabutr said people should be cautious on utilising energy as it is found that nationwide expenses by the people on energy alone are at the average of between 18 – 20 per cent of gross domestic product (GDP). People should check their monthly electricity bills and to also collect receipts on oil and cooking gas and if they found money spent on these bills is about 20 per cent of their monthly income, then it is considered higher than the national GDP, said Mr. Tawarat. By this time, they should find urgent measures to save energy. One of the saving measures is changing to use energy-saving bulbs, he added. (TNA)
