ENERGY FROM WIND RESOURCE IN MONGOLIA IS POSSIBLE TO BE EXPORTED TO ASIA

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In times of growing of the Mongolian economy and increasing of electricity and heating consumption, the country should develop regional cooperation in ensuring energy security. It was said by representatives at a meeting themed “Energy security in Northeast Asia” held Thursday in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Co-organized by the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Defense and the Scientific Institute of Defense, this meeting gathered about 100 foreign and domestic representatives. It is time to study the regional economic development together with its security matter as the global economic epicenter is transmitting into Northeast Asia, the participants emphasized. They discussed problems and difficulties faced to the energy sector. For example, Japan imports energy resource from foreign countries because the country does not such resource although its techniques and technologies are highly developed, the participants said, and considered a way of tackling the problems through a joint effort of Asian nations. Japanese researchers have estimated that wind resources in Mongolia can produce vast amount of energy, and it is possible to provide not only the country, but also Asian countries with electricity from wind resources.
