English media gives misleading story on abuse of British family in Hua Hin

PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, April 29 (TNA) -- Director-general of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Office in Prachuap Khiri Khan province pointed out that the English media has presented a misleading story on the a group of Thais attacking an English family in Hua Hin resort town on the night of Songkran. Prachuap Khiri Khan TAT Office Director Ms Orasa Awutkhom said the video clip of the attack has gone viral through international media platforms of a group of local Thai people abusing an English family of three, while the family was enjoying the Songkran festival in Binthabat alley in Hua Hin resort town on the night of April 13 or Songkran day. She said the suspects were caught three days later, or on April 16, in which the police have already notified the United Kingdom Embassy of the arrests and procedures to prosecute the suspects. Ms Orasa said the suspects confessed that they did not have the intention to harm the tourists like some English media are portraying the story to be. One suspect, a resident of Sam Roi Yod district has, meanwhile, apologised for his actions on the day of his arrest at the Hua Hin Police Station on April 17, ensuring he did not mean to harm anyone. He then apologised to the public for ruining the image of the city and confessed that his violent act took place because of alcohol, which he personally thought that in the coming future, the government should implement stricter measures against the selling of alcohol on special celebrations.
