Enough Is Enough: Palestinians Want Suffering To End

KUALA LUMPUR, May 27 (Bernama) -- The United Nations and the international community are urged to continuously put pressure on the Israeli government to stop the atrocities against the Palestinian people. Palestine Ambassador to Malaysia, Dr Anwar Al-Agha (picture) said the Palestinians had suffered enough and wanted to see an end to their suffering perpetuated by the Israeli government, while calling for the establishment of the Palestine state. "We (Palestinians) have suffered enough in the hands of the Israeli government for 68 years, and we want to see an end to Israeli occupation and to establish the state of Palestine. "We hope the UN will call the hard-headed Israeli government to establish the state of Palestine and end its atrocities against the Palestinian people as this remains a violation of the laws." Anwar said this at a press conference in conjunction with the 68th anniversary of Al-Nakba (Palestinian Refugee Catastrophe), at the embassy, here, Thursday. Anwar said the Palestinians also wished to see their young generation have a better future, attend school and university in peace without any form of conflict. The Al-Nakba (literally meaning catastrophe or disaster) that occurred on May 15, 1948 led to the Arab-Israeli war in 1948 and the establishment of the state of Israel. Some 750,000 Palestinians were forced out of their homes and fled from the attacks by Israeli forces, while many towns and villages of the Palestinian people were destroyed. (photoBERNAMA) --BERNAMA
