Ensuring Relations With Taliban Against All International Conventions And Standards

Kabul (BNA) The UN Security Council in its last session assessed Afghanistan’s situation, in which imposing restrictions again Taliban was the main issue of discussions. BNA political analyst commenting on the issue writes UN Security Council recently holding a session assessed the security situation of Afghanistan and the new political developments in the country. In the session, in addition to the permanent and non-permanent delegations of Security Council, the senior diplomats of the region and the countries that have military, political, and economic with Afghanistan attended. The last UN Security Council session held, while Afghanistan has been facing with new political developments: Taliban have presented conditions for peace talks and insisted on direct talks with U.S. Meanwhile, the relations of this group with other countries unveiled. In addition to the above developments, American authorities have said that Afghan issue has no military solution. This acknowledgment provided the ground for Taliban’s propagation's, considering themselves as an effective movement, tried their best to strengthen their political stance then before. The head of UN Restriction Committee says that had visited repeatedly Afghanistan and reached the conclusion that the restriction imposed on Taliban in 1996, impel the group to give certain concessions. He insists that now, a legal framework for butting the restrictions in practice has provided, this is with Afghan Central Bank establish barriers against Taliban’s financial resources and to identify the people who support the group financially. The above statements indicate that UN is thinking to punish Taliban in various ways, one of them is imposing restrictions against this pernicious group, because this terrorist group is seeking to destabilize Afghanistan and the region, just by curbing the group, security and stability can be restore to Afghanistan and to the region. It should say that in mid-November, 2016 a delegation of UN Security Council visited Kabul. Holding a meeting with the delegation, president Ghani offering undeniable evidence, explicitly told the delegation that Afghan problem was not a domestic problem but it had complicated dimensions abroad. Afghan president insisted that Taliban were a serious threat against not only Afghanistan but also the entire world and asked for registering the name of Mullah Haibatullah the leader of Taliban in UN black list. One should focus on President of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan who considers Taliban a fatal threat against Afghan security and entire world. Therefore, ensuring new relations of some countries with this terrorist group indicate that Taliban is no more a military and political movement in Afghanistan but as military company receiving money from any countries serving for achieving the goals of those countries. Concerns, regarding to ensuring relations of certain countries with Taliban have reflected in statements of Afghan permanent representative to UN. He insists that ensuring relation of any countries with Taliban, meaning legalizing terrorism and violation against all global and UN Conventions’ standards. Afghan political elites strongly believe that UN should recognize Taliban as a dangerous terrorist group, not only they deprived for financial support, but the names of their leaders in UN black list. Any relation with the group should be considering a crime, and avoiding any relation with the group should be including in UN restrictions. Afghanistan for isolating Taliban this terrorist group in international level should use an active and practical diplomacy, because there many countries in the region and in the world that condemning terrorist actions, defend the stance of Afghanistan in battle against terrorism. The recent session of UN Security Council was an effective move toward Taliban punishment and now depends to diplomatic organs of the country how to support and strengthen this process.
