Envoy: China Ready To Expand Co-op With Iran On Tourism

Bam, Kerman prov., March 8, IRNA – Chinese Ambassador to Tehran Yu Hongyang has voiced Beijing’s readiness to expand bilateral cooperation with Tehran, particularly in tourism industry. He made the remarks here on Saturday while visiting the historical site of Bam Citadel (Arg-e Bam) in southeatern Iran. Pointing out that the ancient place is well known all over the world, he said China was ready to expand relations with Iran especially in the tourism sector. The Arg-e Bam was the largest adobe building in the world, located in the city of Bam. It is listed by UNESCO as part of the World Heritage Site ˈBam and its Cultural Landscapeˈ. The origin of this enormous citadel on the Silk Road can be traced back to the Achaemenid period (6th to 4th centuries BC) and even beyond. On December 26, 2003, the Citadel was almost completely destroyed by an 6.6-magnitude earthquake./end
