Envoy In FAO: Producing High Quality Grains, Iran’s Top Priority

Gonbad-e Kavous, Golestan Prov, Oct 12, IRNA – Production of high quality seeds for reproduction is among Iranian Agricultural Jihad Ministry’s top priorities, Iran’s Ambassador to UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) said here Saturday. “All the officials in that ministry’s agriculture department are unanimously agreed that production of high quality seeds for plantation is among the major issues for our country’s agriculture,” said Dr. Hossein Dehqan in a training workshop for quality improvement of seeds and joint management of kettles and poultry husbandry. A foreign guest of the workshop, Professor Phil Reston, a researcher in New Zealand universities, too, said that there is a plan for production of high quality seeds for plantation in a five-year program. “Main focus in this program is the quality of the seeds, although how the seeds are to be dealt with, too, is important for the farmers,” he added. The three-day workshop is held both in theoretical and in practical fields./end
