Equatorial Guinea's President to officially visit Thailand March 13-16

BANGKOK, March 12 (TNA) - Equatorial Guinea's President Teodoro Obiang Nguema will pay an official visit to Thailand from March 13-16 as the guest of the Thai government, aimed to boost bilateral relations between the two allied nations. The top leader of Equatorial Guinea was earlier scheduled to officially visit Thailand from March 7-10, but it was postponed because the President, in his capacity as the Chair of the Cooperation Forum of Africa and South America States, attended the funeral of late Venezuela president Hugo Chavez, who passed away last week. The Thai government will organize an official reception for the Equatorial Guinea President at Bangkok's Government House on March 14, after which Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and the Equatorial Guinea President will discuss bilateral relations, trade, investment and development cooperation. During his four-day stay in Thailand, the Equatorial Guinea President will also inspect an innovation center of construction materials and leading Thai refineries; while business operators accompanying him will present investment opportunities to their Thai counterparts. Equatorial Guinea is known as the fastest growing economy in Africa and has played its key roles in developing relations between Africa and other regions. Thailand and the western African nation started their diplomatic relations in 1991. (TNA)
