Equatorial Guinea's President to visit Thailand March 7-10

BANGKOK, March 1 (TNA) - Equatorial Guinea's President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo will pay a four-day official visit to Thailand, scheduled for March 7-10, to boost bilateral relations between the most growing African nation and Thailand. Manasvi Srisodapol, Director-General of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Department of Information, made the announcement in Bangkok on Friday, noting that it represents the first official visit to Thailand by a high-ranking Equatorial Guinean authority. Manasvi said Thailand and Equatorial Guinea have developed their diplomatic relations since 1991, acknowledging that Equatorial Guinea is one of the fastest growing economies in Africa and has played important roles in developing relations between Africa and other regions. According to the senior official, the Thai government will organize a reception ceremony for the Equatorial Guinean President at Bangkok's Government House on March 8, after which the Thai Prime Minister and the Equatorial Guinean President will discuss bilateral and regional relations, as well as cooperation on trade, investment and development. The Thai Prime Minister will then host a lunch reception for the Equatorial Guinean President and his entourage at the Government House's compound. During his upcoming trip to Thailand, the Equatorial Guinean President will inspect a construction material innovation center and a leading oil refinery; while a group of Equatorial Guinean business operators who accompany the President will meet their Thai counterparts, especially those in the trade, energy and construction sectors, to present investment opportunities in Equatorial Guinea.
