Eradication of human trafficking continues

BANGKOK, September 5 (TNA) -- Interior Ministerl Anupong Paochinda said he has given an order to concerned authorities to continue suppressing human trafficking racket until the problem is “no longer existed in Thailand.” Gen Anupong said officials at every level in provinces have been given the order to cooperate in solving the problem and a total of 1,050,068 workers from Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia were officially registered earlier this year. They are allowed to continue working in Thailand for a period of one year after the registration, said Gen Anupong. Also, a total of 80,418 foreign fishing crew are registered in 2015, he said. Intelligence gathering networks have been established even at the village level in which the village headmen would open eyes and ears to see whether there are illegal human trafficking rackets operating in their villages, said Gen Anupong. On the suppression efforts, officials have been able to suppress 16 cases involving human trafficking while they have rescued 160 victims, said Gen Anupong. (TNA)
