ERC continues to respond to needs of displaced, refugees in Mali

ABU DHABI, 9th February, 2016 (WAM) – Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has been carrying out a number of health, education and service projects to help stabilise displaced and refugees in northern Mali. The move is part of a wider UAE developmental role to improve living conditions in Africa. The ERC works in co-ordination with a number of international humanitarian organisations to address the challenges facing the local populations there. The ERC delegation will head soon to Mali to monitor the humanitarian situation closely so as to assess the urgent needs of people there. In a statement, the ERC said its health projects in Mali aim to improve the health of mothers and children, especially the undernourished children under five and pregnant women. About 340, 600 children and 80, 000 pregnant women benefit from the ERC programme. About 95 percent will be vaccinated against a number of diseases. – Emirates News Agency, WAM - http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395291327056.html
