ERC examines ways to expand water projects in Mali

ABU DHABI, 2nd March, 2016 (WAM) -- The Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, is examining ways to expand its projects that fight water shortages in northern Mali by providing safe drinking water to residents of areas hit by drought, and water resources for animals which represent an essential source of income to locals. The ERC is seeking to establish the most effective ways to help locals fight the drought in coordination with the Mali Red Cross. The authority has also recently sent a delegation to visit north Mali to speak to residents about their requirements. Fahd Abdul Rahman bin Sultan, ERC Deputy Secretary-General, said that the authority plans to fight the water shortage using various methods including drilling wells in the desert and building dams to collect rain water for conservation and use in times of drought. Well-drilling projects are one of the leading projects for the authority in Mali. – Emirates News Agency, WAM - http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates-international-aid/1395292297680.html
