ERC provides more aid for persons affected by floods in Malaysia

ABU DHABI,2nd February, 2015 (WAM) -- The Emirates Red Crescent Authority (ERC) has provided more humanitarian assistance to victims of floods in Malaysia. The humanitarian aid included 10,000 blankets, 1,000 school bags and 3,000 cookers, besides securing eight boats to facilitate the population's movement in the regions affected by floods water, as boats are deemed the only means of transportation. The ERC's delegation has distributed aid among victims of the most affected areas, including five villages. Humaid Rashid Al Shamsi, the ERC's Deputy Secretary-General of the International Aid, drew attention to the fact that the foundation is continuing its humanitarian relief programmes to support those affected by the floods in Malaysia as well as alleviating their condition to meet the repercussions on their daily lives. He also added that the ERC has set a wise policy to implement its construction projects in accordance with the requirements of Malaysians following the catastrophe, especially in vital fields like education and health. He indicated that the Foundation is working as per the strategy based on adopting developmental projects to leverage standards of living of local inhabitants in crises and catastrophe-hit areas.
