Erdogan Plans To Visit Iraq Next Month

BAGHDAD / NINA / Deputy Turkish Prime Minister, Bulent Arinc said that the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan plans to visit Iraq in January. Arinc said, in a press statement that "the recent visit of the Iraqi Prime Minister, Haider al-Abadi to Turkey, saw the first meeting of the strategist Cooperation Council between the two countries." He added: "The Turkish-Iraqi relations witnessed, during the reign of al-Maliki, a significant decline, but after the establishment of the new government, and the election of a new president, and the House Speaker, we have opened a new page in relations between the two countries, and we turned the past page, and the new relations based on a strong foundation." He continued: "We are delighted to develop relations between with Iraq, as we are partners in the region, and Iraq is our neighbor and it certainly has sovereignty over its territory, adding it is useful for both of us that relations between us are strong and solid." / End
