Escalating wild fire in Chiang Mai

CHIANG MAI, February 13 (TNA) - A wild fire has razed areas adjacent to a cluster of government offices in Thailand's northern Chiang Mai Province, damaging over 100 rais of forest land, as local authorities have been hunting down suspected torchers. The overnight fire, at peat swamp forest areas, was reportedly spotted only 100 metres west of the Chiang Mai Provincial Hall this morning when it reignited, resulting in heavy haze blanketing affected areas in the city, as local firefighters were trying hard, amid the dry weather, to stop the wild fire.
