EU process a matter of foreign policy and internal politics, says EU Minister Bagis

ANKARA (A.A) - December 28, 2011 - Turkish Minister for European Union (EU) Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis said Wednesday that the EU process was a matter of both foreign policy and internal politics. In an interview published on internet site "ab-ilan.com", Bagis stressed that all Turkish institutions, all non-governmental organizations, media, universities and 74 million Turkish citizens were not part of the EU process but rather actors in the process. Thanks to its reform process, Turkey has gained psychological superiority over those who approach Turkey with pre-conceived notions in the European Union, Bagis noted. The EU process is crucial for our youth. We expect more active contributions from the Turkish youth in the EU process, Bagis said. Touching on the issue of visas applied to Turkish citizens, Bagis underlined that they began the process to end visa requirement from Turkish citizens in the EU.
