Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Cabinet discussed Monday the issue of providing funding for paying tuition of Mongolian students, who have been selected to study in the distinguished universities of the world in the 2015-2016 academic year. The Ministers of Finance and Education, Culture and Sciences were assigned to reflect the funding in the 2015 budget clarification, and to include the specified funding for university tuition for 100 stundets, at a minimum, into the annual State Budgets. A selection has been announced for granting scholarships for the 2014-2015 academic year, and 86 students concluded agreements on studying in high-ranking universities on the funding of State Fund for Study Loans in 2014. Some 60 percent of those students are studying in a priority field – engineering and high-tech, 25 percent are majoring in medicine, environmental security and ecology. The priority fields are outlined in the Government Action Plan for 2012-2016. The fact that 35 percent of all applicants for the government loans had obtained study offers from top 20 universities in the world university rankings shows the great intellectual potential of Mongolia’s youth, considered the officials. The Cabinet also obligated the Minister of Education, Culture and Sciences, the Ministers of Finance and Foreign Affairs to develop proposals to submit to the governments of the countries, where those top universities are located. The proposals will be about alleviating the tuition fees for Mongolian students who have been granted Government loans.
