Ex-premier Yingluck to return to Thailand tomorrow

BANGKOK, August 10 (TNA) - Former Thai deputy prime minister and minister of Foreign Affairs Surapong Tovichakchaikul has said that former premier Yingluck Shinawatra will return to Thailand from Europe on Monday as planned. Surapong denied rumours that the ex-premier had postponed her return until the end of August. According to sources with the Pheu Thai Party, Yingluck is scheduled to arrive in Thailand late Monday afternoon and she wants privacy for her arrival. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief-of-Staff of the Royal Thai Army Lieutenant General Kampanat Ruddit said the National Council for Peace and Order has not received any request from Yingluck to extend her oversea trip, thus he expects her to return to Thailand as scheduled. The Thai military council that staged bloodless coup to depose the Yinglick government, last month granted Yingluck permission to leave Thailand from July 20 and August 10. Yingluck is facing charges over the loss-ridden rice-pledging scheme. (TNA)
