Exodus problem of Cambodian workers settled

BANGKOK, July 2 (TNA) - Acting Thai Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow says that the recent problem of exodus of Cambodian migrant workers to their home country has been settled. Sihasak, who is also Thai Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, announced the end of the problem on Wednesday morning, after returning to Thailand following his two-day official visit to Cambodia from July 1-2. Sihasak stated that normalcy on the issue has been restored, as Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen agreed to cooperate with Thailand to send Cambodians back to work in the Thai Kingdom legally. According to the acting Thai foreign minister, Cambodia has reduced its fee on passport issuances for Cambodians to only 4 US dollars each, from 200 US dollars each earlier. In response, Thailand is, in the meantime, speeding up a visa approval time from three days to one day. (TNA)
