Expert expects Russia’s coronavirus situation to remain calm until fall

MOSCOW, March 29. /TASS/. Russia’s coronavirus situation is likely to remain calm until the fall but virus mutations may cause another rise in cases, infectious disease expert Yevgeny Timakov told TASS. "If a new coronavirus mutation emerges and a strain more active than the Omicron variant comes in, then we can expect another rise in infections," he pointed out. "We can relax until the fall and then we will need to focus on mutations that may emerge in other countries by the end of the summer," Timakov added. The expert also noted that the lifting of coronavirus restrictions was reasonable because many people in the country had recovered from the disease. Read more
