EXPERTS OF MONGOLIA AND CHINA COLLABORATE IN RESTORATION OF ANCIENT SITE

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Culture Authorities of Mongolia and China signed Tuesday a cooperation contract to restore Kherlen Bars ruins of an ancient settlement in eastern Mongolia. Representing the Mongolian side, P.Altangerel, State secretary for the Ministry for Culture, Sport and Tourism signed the contract together with Yang Qingdong, political advisor at the Chinese Embassy in Ulaanbaatar from the Chinese side. Under the contract, the sides will collaborate in restoration efforts of the small scale ruins in Dornod province, which once were part of the ancient Kitan state in the 10th century. Kherlen Bar the location of some small-scale ruins and a 3 m high with some balbals (Turkic stones believed to be grave marker) and rock called the “Chinggis Bed”, which commemorates his stay here. Kherlen Bar is about 90 km west of Choibalsan town, the center of Dornod province.
