Exploded rail tracks repaired, train services resumed

BANGKOK, January 18 (TNA) - Train services in seaside Cha-am District of Phetchaburi Province in the Upper Thai South have been resumed, after a repair to fix rail tracks was completed on Saturday morning following a bomb explosion on Friday night. The rail tracks between Nong Sala and Cha-am District were reopened at 10am on Saturday, after a nearly seven-hour closure following the bomb explosion. According to Phetchaburi Transport Safety Centre, the blast, which took place at 3:50am, some 630 metres away from the Ban Cha-am railway station, cut off the rail tracks by 10 centimetre and left a 40 centemetre hole under the tracks. Two sleepers were also destroyed. But no one was injured by the blast. Three trains had to wait at Hua Hin station in nearby Prachuap Khiri Khan Province pending the track repair. (TNA)
