EXTERNAL TRADE TURNOVER REACHES USD 8,477.4 MILLION

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ In the first nine months of 2012, Mongolia traded with 131 countries, a total external trade turnover reached USD 8,477.4 million. The exports accounted USD 3,231.6 million, the imports--5,245.8 million. Foreign trade balance showed a deficit of USD 2,014.2 million in the first nine months of this year, reflecting USD 628.3 million or 45.3-per cent increase against same period of the previous year. This was caused by the fact that the import growth was higher by 14.8 points than the export growth. Total external trade turnover increased USD 210.7 million or 2.5 per cent, of which imports increased by USD 419.5 million or 8.7 per cent, but the exports decreased by USD 208.8 million or 6.1 per cent against 2011. Mineral products, natural or cultured stones, precious metal, jewelry, coins, raw & processed hides, skins, fur & articles, animal origin products, and textile articles accounted for 98.2 per cent of the total export value amount.
