Farmer ONE database to be developed in Thailand

BANGKOK, June 14 (TNA) - The Thai government, through the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Electronic Government Agency (Public Organisation), is developing an integrated database for the domestic farm sector, dubbed "Farmer ONE". A memorandum of cooperation (MOC) on the development of the "Farmer ONE" database through the information technology (IT) was signed by the three agencies in Bangkok on Tuesday. General Prasart Sook-kaset, Secretary to Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister General Chatchai Sarikulya, told journalists that the development of the "Farmer ONE" database is in line with an urgent policy initiated by the agriculture and cooperatives minister Under the MOC to be implemented next year, General Prasart said, the Thai Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives will supply information on local agriculturists of all sectors, namely farmlands, livestock farms and fishery businesses, who have officially registered themselves and compile them in the same file, while the Ministry of Science and Technology will offer technology on keeping the local agriculturists' names electronically and the Electronic Government Agency will support an integrated network on keeping the large file through the use of the Government Cloud Service.
