Fatah Wants To Learn Hyperconnectivity From Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 24 (Bernama) -- The fact that it is a war-torn zone does not deter Palestine from getting connected with other nations and the world. Representative from the Fatah movement of Palestine Dr Abdallah Abdallah said the party was determined to learn from Malaysia's achievement and success to take the nation to greater heights. Dr Abdallah, who is Fatah's International Relations Committee deputy commissioner, said in today's hyperconnected world, the use of technological device was crucial and would benefit the Palestinians to develop their economy. "This is the world today and we cannot sideline the new technology. We should not allow ourselves to be left behind," he told Bernama. Dr Abdallah is attending the two-day International Forum, which began Monday, held in conjunction with the Umno General Assembly 2014 at the Putra World Trade Centre here. A total of 127 foreign delegates from 34 political parties in 22 countries are attending the forum, themed 'A Hyperconnected World: Challenges in Nation Building'. "We believe there are something that we can learn (in this forum). This is an opportunity for us to interconnect with Malaysia and others and learn from their experiences," he said. Dr Abdallah said the Palestinian government had already developed the E-Government (electronic government) system for social communication and telecommunication. Fatah and Hamas had formed the Palestinian unity government on June 2 this year after seven years of rivalry between the two Palestinian factions, ending years of division. Meanwhile, Member of Council and Youth Wing President of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Ibrahim Yusoof said hyperconnectivity would enable culture sharing among countries and become a platform for country leaders to engage with their people. "Hyperconnectivity has a large scale impact because when you are connected with the people, be it through social media or conventional media, you will get updates on what's happening immediately," he added. -- BERNAMA
