Fath Al-Kier 2 to India Launched from Katara Beach

Doha, October 05 (QNA) - Stemming from the interest of the Cultural Village Foundation- Katara in reviving the deeply rooted relationship of Qataris with the sea and whatever that entails in regards to customs and traditions, the journey of Fatah al kheir 2 to India kicked off on Monday from Katara beach. Fath Al-Khier dhow sailed with the presence of HE Minister of Energy and Industry Dr Mohammed Bin Saleh Al Sada, the general manager of the Cultural Village Foundation-Katara, Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti and HE Indian Ambassador to Qatar Sanjiv Arora. Representatives of the diplomate mission in Doha along with representatives from Qatar Museums and Qatar Gas Transport Company (Nakilat) were also present during the event. Addressing attendees during the event, the general manager of the cultural Village Foundation-Katara Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti said: "Katara Keenness to launch Fatah al Kier journey stems from its commitment to embrace the Qatari genuine traditions and rich heritage. The Journey is an illustration of the Cultural village transcendental mission of reviving the maritime heritage and spread awareness about our ancestors amongst the new promising generation." The general manager of Katara has exuded thanks to the Indian embassy in Doha represented by HE Sanjiv Arora and the The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman, represented by HE. Mohammad Nasser al Wahaibi along with the from Qatar Museums and Qatar Gas Transport Company (Nakilat) for the logistic support to the journey. The journey took off from Katara beach, then to Oman, and then to India. Then the return route is from India, to Muscat, and then will concur in Doha on 17 November 2015 which will coincide with the launch of Katara Fifth International Dhow Festival to simulate traditional sea journeys. For his part, the Indian envoy to Doha, HE Sanjiv Arora said: "This journey can be perceived as a recreation of the history and culmination of the deeply rooted ties between the state of Qatar and the Republic of India." HE the Indian envoy said that the embassy has coordinated with the competent parts in India and have made all the required arrangements in a bid to facilitate the mission of Fath Al-Khier 2 to India including the issuance of visas." The participants of Fath Al-Kier who have interacted well with the information and instructions they received, have expressed ultimate readiness to take part in this journey and their immense eagerness to take part in this exceptional journey that will be remembered in the years to come, and their willingness to reflect the beautiful image that Qatar deserves. It is noteworthy that Fath Al-Khier Voyage that resembles the conditions through which the ancestors had lived their sea trips in the time of diving, pearl hunting, and fishing. The similarity lies in the preparation for the voyage and getting the dhow ready for the voyage with all its supplies and crew, and living up all its details in accordance with the current Qatari spiritual, religious, and humane values.
