FBI, Thai police join forces against human trafficking case

CHIANG MAI, THAILAND, January 8 (TNA) - A hill tribe in the Thai North has been arrested for allegedly luring boys for male foreigners, thanks to cooperation between Thai police and the United States' Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Police Colonel Shinawit Wichaithanapat, Deputy Chief of the Provincial Police Region 5, told a press conference on Thursday that local Thai police, in cooperation with FBI, have apprehended the 23-year-old hill tribe man, identified as Ayo Ajor, for allegedly procuring at least 100 teenage boys, aged 18 and under, for male foreigners at guesthouses in the northern resort Chiang Mai Province over the past three years. The detained hill tribe man, who was nabbed in neighboring Chiang Rai Province's Mae Fah Luang District, bordering Myanmar, was quoted as confessing that he had lured boys from public parks and game shops in Chiang Mai for his foreign male clients.
