"Festival of India" to be organised in Thailand in 2015

BANGKOK, July 28 (TNA) - The Indian Cultural Centre in Bangkok will organise an annual event, the “Festival of India" in Thailand in 2015, aimed at promoting contemporary relationship between India and Thailand via cultural awareness. The planned festival was announced on Monday at an special event, "Curtain Raiser for Festival of India in Thailand 2015", in which about 60 guests participated, including representatives of the business sector, festival partners, academics, sponsors and journalists. Next year's festival follows the success of the first Festival of India in Thailand, held in March 2014. According to the Indian Ambassador to Thailand, H.E. Harsh Vardhan Shringla, next year's festival will be a platform for both Indian and Thai artists to present their master pieces, promote public understanding and awareness on the two countries' histories and cultural heritages. Sanjoy K Roy, Director of Jaipor Literature Festival, said next year's event consists of several cultural performances, including musical and contemporary dances, as well as an exhibition of Indigo’s life, stories of Thai successful women and literatures from Indian and Thai authors. The Indian Cultural Centre in Bangkok has been opened to showcase India’s rich heritages and to promote multi-layered cultural exchanges between Indian and Thai people. (TNA)
