FIHAV international show closes in Havana

HAVANA, November 8. /TASS/. The 33rd FIHAV 2015 Havana International Fair, which worked between November 2 and 7, closed on Saturday. The forum was devoted mostly to promotion of Cuba’s export, development of trade and investments. Cuba’s Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas at the award ceremony said about key result of the events was signing of bilateral documents with Russia, Spain, Belgium, Ecuador, Chile, the Dominican Republic, Vietnam, Haiti, Brazil, Peru, the U.S., as well as business contacts with the Carribean countries, business forums with the South African Republic (SAR) and Vietnam, the first meeting of the Cuba-U.S. business council, and a meeting of Cuban and Polish businesses. New opportunities for investments At the Fair, Cuba presented a new "portfolio of opportunities" for investments. It features 326 projects in various spheres - worth $8 billion. Those sectors include tourism, oil exploration, energy, food and sports. Besides, at the Fair Cuba presented its new Mariel special zone and named its first residents: two Mexican companies, two from Belgium, one from Span, a Cuban-Brazilian company, one from Singapore and one Cuban company. No vacant space All 25 pavilions of the fair were taken. The expositions took the area of 22,700 square metres. Over 30 governmental delegations, almost 50 chambers of trade visited the fair. Besides, the event offered bilateral economic forums between Cuba and Russia, the SAR, China and other countries, as well as 15 national days, including the Day of Russia. It was for the first time that the fair was attended by countries like the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait. After a break, exponents Bulgaria, Thailand and Japan chose to return. Winners and leaders At the award ceremony, organisers handed gold medals for product quality, design, and advertising. The medals were given to companies and exhibition stands from Cuba, Germany, Belgium, Canada, China, Chile, Spain, France, the Netherlands, Puerto Rico, and Switzerland. Russia’s ministry of trade received an award in nomination "Exhibition stand of free design." FIHAV growth The 33rd Fair featured over 900 representatives of more than 70 countries. The Russian side was represented by 15 companies at the exhibition area of 600 square metres. The biggest companies from Russia were Helicopters of Russia, GAZ, KAMAZ, and others. The event is the biggest trade forum in Cuba over recent 15 years’ period. Read more
