Findings Of Farabi Festival To Be Linked To UNESCO Programs

Tehran, Oct 28, IRNA – United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organizations Director-General Irina Bokova in a message on Saturday to the 6th Farabi International Award Festival in Tehran called for transforming outcome of the festival to UNESCO programs. In the message read by UNESCO Bureau chief in Tehran, she considered the festival's aims and UNESCO programs. She said UNESCO department of humanities and social science and Farabi festival both are following standards to ease social changes to help promote world values such as justice, freedom and human dignity. Referring to Farabi's teachings, Bokova added that Farabi's theoretical philosophy must be transformed to a practical ones and its complexity to simplicity. The 6th Farabi International Award Festival opened in Tehran in the presence of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. During the one-day festival, a number of selected Iranian and foreign scholars will be awarded for their research works on human sciences and Islamic studies later in the day. Several high-ranking officials including Minister of Science, Research and Technology Kamran Daneshjoo also attended the ceremony. The 2012 Farabi International Award Festival, included 12 scientific committees, which focused on the genuine, applicable researches corresponding to human sciences and Islamic studies. A Muslim philosopher and a prominent musician, Farabi (c. 878-950) was regarded as the greatest philosophical authority after Aristotle./end
