First BRICS parliamentary forum to be held in Moscow

MOSCOW, June 8. /TASS/. The first parliamentary forum of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) is opening in Moscow on Monday. It will gather over 100 participants - heads and members of BRICS top legislative bodies, which may start the establishment of the BRICS Parliamentary Assembly after the meeting. The forum’s plenary meeting will consist of two sessions and will be led by speakers of the upper and lower houses of Russia's parliament - the Federation Council and the State Duma - Valentina Matviyenko and Sergey Naryshkin. The Duma public relations office said that during the first session, there are plans to discuss the role of BRICS parliaments in the resolution of the issues of global politics and economics: improvement of international institutions, security cooperation, settlement of conflicts, counter-terrorism, interaction in the establishment of an objective global information space. The second part of the meeting will be devoted directly to development of BRICS parliaments. Read more
