First eight boys are in good health

CHIANG RAI, July 10 (TNA) – The first eight boys, rescued from the cave are now in good mental and physical health and they are expected to stay in hospital for at least one week, said Jesada Chokedamrongsuk, permanent secretary of the public health. He gave updates this morning on health conditions of eight young football players in a press conference at Chiangrai Prachanukroh Hospital. They had medical check-ups including blood sample tests, lung x-rays, EKG tests and were given vaccines against rabies and Tetanus. When they arrived at hospital, their temperatures were low due to long stay on the damp cave and almost all of them had high white blood cell counts. They were treated with antibiotics. The check-ups showed signs of lung infection in two boys.They are expected to remain in hospital for at least one week, waiting for the lab tests for emerging infectious diseases. All boys have no fever this morning. They can do their normal activities and are eating easy-to digest food. Their parents can visit through a window screen. (TNA)
