First Qatar Charity Humanitarian Forum in Support of the Palestinian People Kicks Off

Doha, October 29 (QNA) - Under the patronage of HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani "First Qatar Charity Humanitarian Forum in Support of the Palestinian People" kicked off here today with participation of a number of humanitarian organizations and philanthropic foundations from 30 countries, as well as a number of regional and international organizations. The three-day Forum aims to highlight the needs of the Palestinian people, and launch strategic initiatives, and support for funding and implementation of humanitarian programmes and projects. The opening session was attended by a number of Ministers and representatives of humanitarian and charitable organizations and civil society organizations in the State and guests of the Forum. Yousef Ahmed Al-Kuwari, Qatar Charity CEO said the Forum aims to mobilize efforts of all those concerned, in the Gulf as well as humanitarian organizations and regional and international donors in order to shed light on the needs of the Palestinian people, who for decades suffered from high rates of poverty and unemployment, occupation, siege and repeated aggression in recent years. The Forum also seeks to launch strategic initiatives, and advocacy to finance and implement the humanitarian programmes and projects in the occupied Palestinian territories and the refugee camps in diaspora, he added.
