Five foreign reciters appointed to jury of Iranian Quran competition

TEHRAN,May 21(MNA) -- Five foreign members of the panel for the 30th International Quran Competition have been appointed. The members are Ikmal Zaidi bin Hashim from Malaysia, Rizwan Darwish from Syria, Junaidin Idris from Indonesia, Adel Khalil Mahmoud from Lebanon, and Abdel Monem Ahmed Mohammad from Sudan, the State Endowment and Charity Affairs Organization announced on Monday. Five other foreign reciters of the Holy Quran and 9 Iranian members are also scheduled to join the jury. Iranian reciter Abdorrasul Abaii will preside over the panel. Hashem Soltan-Nejad and Vahid Vakili from Iran will compete in the memorization and recitation categories during the event, which will be held at the Summit Conference Hall in Tehran from June 1 to 7. A seminar on Quranic research has also been arranged on the side section of the event. Last year, Qasem Moqaddami received the first prize in the recitation category and Hossein Motamedi won the first prize in the memorization category.
