Five foreign tourists died, four others injured in car accident in Thai South

SATUN, Thailand, March 15 (TNA) - Five Malaysian tourists, including a two-month-old and a four-year-old boys, died and four others injured after their car hit a high-voltage electricity post in southern Thailand, police said Sunday. The accident occurred at about 4.00 p.m. Saturday when the ill-fated car hit the electricity post on a highway linking between Satun and Trang provinces, police said. According to police, the victims were from Kedah, Malaysia, and were travelling back to their country after visiting the resort island of Phuket. It was initially believed that the driver was driving at a high speed and dozed off behind the wheel at the time when the accident occurred, they said. Police said they would interrogate the injured passengers again to find out the cause of the accident. Satun Governor Dejrat Simsiri had asked Malaysian authorities to inform relatives of the victims to collect bodies at the provincial hospital. (TNA)
