Five Missing Climbers Found Alive: Rescuers

Padangpariaman, W Sumatra, Oct 14 (Antara) - Five missing climbers of Mount Tandikat, Padangpariaman District, West Sumatra Province, have been found alive, a rescue worker said here Tuesday. "The climbers who went missing on Saturday were found alive at the mountain`s area about 2,400 meters above the sea level," Chief of Padang City`s National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) Juanda Sodo said. At least 10 rescuers were deployed to search for Daniel Febriansyah, Iken, Budi, Boy and Riswandi who went missing in their effort to conquer Mt Tandikat from the slope of Mt.Singgalang on Saturday, he said. "They should have been able to go down from Mt Tandikat on Sunday afternoon but, instead, they go missing. They were in a weak condition when found by the rescuers," he said. The rescuers who saved the climbers were expected to reach a prepared evacuation zone on Tuesday afternoon and transported them to a local hospital, Juanda Sodo said adding that the climbers are all students of a college in Padang.
