KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 5 (Bernama) -- The 2016-2020 ASEAN-South Korea Strategic Partnership for Peace and Security adopted Tuesday, is set to strengthen ties between the 10-member bloc and South Korea, which was accorded a full Dialogue Partner in 1991. South Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se, who described the five-year road map as very important, outlined comprehensive frameworks and measures on cooperation in economy, social and culture, as well as political and security affairs. "Yesterday (Tuesday), we adopted the Plan of Action. We are very committed to move forward together," he said after the ASEAN-South Korea bilateral meeting held on the sidelines of the 48th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting at the Putra World Trade Centre, here Wednesday. He added that South Korea also fully supported ASEAN's ambitious goal to establish the ASEAN Community by year-end as well as contribute to the ASEAN post-2015 Vision. According to the ASEAN official website, the 2016-2020 Action Plan will place priority on programmes that will have region-wide impacts such as development cooperation, narrowing development gap and enhancing regional connectivity. -- BERNAMA
