Flood has eased in several areas

TAK, Sept 19 (TNA) - Severe flooding in several areas in Thailand has eased after devastating farmlands and people’s property while a Myanmar female worker has been drowned in strong current in Mae Sot district bordering Myanmar. Officials said severe flooding is still seen in Mae Sot municipality as roads are still under water of about 30 centimetres while authorities have installed two large water pumps to pump floodwater in a small community. It is expected that the floodwater level in Mae Sot would improve if there is no rain in the area today. Mae Sot police reported that a 26-year-old Myanmar female migrant worker was drowned after she tried to swim across a canal with strong current. Her body was found later and sent to a hospital in the district for an autopsy. Also, flooding situation in Hua Hin resort district of Prachuap Khiri Khan province has improved after it experienced a heavy rainfall on Friday. Traffic along the highway from Bangkok to Hua Hin has returned to normal by Saturday after officials pumped floodwater into canals. (TNA)
