Flood hits Krabi

KRABI, May 29 (TNA) - Torrential rains have hit the southern coastal province of Krabi, causing severe flooding in the popular tourist destination. Officials said heavy rains began in Krabi since early Saturday while several areas in the provincial seat are under floodwater. The road leading to tourist destinations such as Ao Nang Beach is about 50 centimetres under water, causing a problem to motorists. By early Sunday, the floodwater level began to recede slowly. But downpour still continued in the province. Portions of road leading from Krabi to another resort province of Phang-nga was also flooded. Officials had to close one traffic lane but still allowed a two-way traffic on the road. (TNA)
