Flood Kills Five, Leaves Four Missing In

By Niam Seet Wei BEIJING, Aug 4 (Bernama) -- Heavy rain-triggered flood in northwest China's Shaanxi Province killed five people and left four others missing, Xinhua news agency reported. The flood also swept away 13 people from a riverside restaurant at the Xiaoyuhe Village in Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi on Monday afternoon, four of whom were rescued while nine were washed away. Xiaoyuhe Village was hit by the heaviest rains recorded at 145.7mm on Monday, the highest over the past 30 years, noted the news agency. It said the flood left over 50 tourists stranded while villagers were relocated. The search is underway for those reported missing. -- BERNAMA
