Floods hit many provinces of Thailand

BANGKOK, Aug 18 (TNA) - Tropical Storm Bebinca makes a landfall on Vietnam’s coast on Friday and brings heavy rains to many parts of Thailand. Although Bebinca will weaken after making the landfall the Meteorological Department warns several provinces of heavy downpours and landslides in the next few days. Nan province has been battered by torrential rains triggering runoffs and river overflowing. A wide area has been inundated with muddy floodwater, causing shutdowns of schools. Provincial authorities have implemented close surveillance and measures for mitigation. Bebinca is sending impacts to Thailand while many dams and main rivers have already been overwhelmed with high water volume. (TNA)
